Ariel Bunched Cables

Aerial Bunched Cable (ABC)

Revolutionizing Overhead Power Distribution

At Jigar Cables Ltd., we offer the latest overhead power distribution—Aerial Bunched Cables (ABC). This advanced system is a significant improvement over conventional bare conductor systems, offering superior safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. ABC cables are engineered to reduce power losses, installation costs, and maintenance efforts, making them the ideal choice for a wide range of power distribution applications.

Construction

The ABC system is constructed by bunching and twisting XLPE-insulated aluminum power conductors around a bare messenger wire. This assembly is directly mounted on distribution poles or towers, offering a compact, flexible, and reliable solution for overhead power distribution. The XLPE insulation, black in colour, is specially designed to resist ultraviolet (UV) radiation and withstand the effects of environmental exposure.

Key Features of XLPE Insulation

  • UV Resistance
The insulation is formulated to be highly resistant to sunlight and ultraviolet radiation, ensuring long-term durability.
  • Superior Material Stability
XLPE offers enhanced mechanical and electrical properties, providing excellent insulation and reliability over extended periods of use.

Advantages of Aerial Bunched Cables (ABC)

Compared to traditional bare overhead conductors, ABC cables offer significant benefits in terms of both performance and cost-efficiency:

  • Enhanced Safety
With both power and neutral conductors fully insulated, ABC ensures superior protection against electrical hazards, making it a safer option than bare conductors, especially in populated areas.
  • High Insulation Resistance
The dielectric properties of the XLPE insulation provide exceptional resistance to electrical leakage, minimizing power losses and ensuring efficient power transmission.
  • Negligible Leakage Currents
Due to the high-quality insulation, leakage currents are minimized, resulting in lower energy losses and improved system efficiency.
  • Lower Voltage Drop and Higher Current Capacities
ABC cables provide better voltage regulation, enabling longer distribution spans and supporting higher current loads with greater system stability, even across longer distances.
  • System Stability for Longer Distances
The robust design of ABC cables allows for longer spans, enabling reliable power distribution across extended distances without compromising stability.
  • Cost-Effective Solution
Total installation and operational costs are significantly reduced due to the ease of installation, minimal maintenance requirements, and reduced energy losses, making ABC a highly economical option.
  • Ease of Maintenance
The insulated nature of the cables minimizes the risk of external damage, reducing the need for frequent repairs and lowering ongoing maintenance costs.

Applications

ABC Cables are an optimal solution for a wide variety of applications, including:

  • Rural Electrification Projects
Efficient power transfer in remote areas, including woods, forests, and hilly terrains.
  • Urban Power Distribution
Suitable for congested urban areas with narrow lanes where space is limited.
  • Challenging Terrains
Perfect for installations in regions where the cost of erecting overhead lines or underground cables is prohibitively high, such as mountainous or coastal regions.
